Activate Payment Methods

Cashfree Payments supports multiple payment methods, and you can configure what is relevant to your business. By default, Cashfree Payments auto-enables a few payment modes when you activate Payment Gateway. This helps you to start accepting payments immediately from your customers.

To view the active payment modes and other available modes, go to Payment Gateway Dashboard in the left navigation bar click Settings > select Payment Methods.


Payment Methods

You have the option to enable the following payment modes directly from the Payment Gateway Dashboard:

  • Amex
  • Diners Club International
  • PhonePe
  • PayPal
  • Paytm

To activate a new payment mode,

  1. Go to Payment Gateway Dashboard in the left navigation bar click Settings > select Payment Methods. A sample Payment Methods screen is shown below:

  1. Click Enable Payment Mode. Let us say you want to activate Diners Club International for your account.

  1. Select the payment mode, submit the details as requested by the payment provider, and click Submit.

Verification - Upload Documents

  1. The payment provider will verify the details and activate the payment mode within the specified timelines. Standard pricing is applicable for each payment mode. If any other clarifications are required, your account manager will reach out to you and assist you further.

Some payment modes, for example, PhonePe can be activated instantly. You can activate Amex following the same steps described above.

Activate PayPal for your Account

With Cashfree you can directly integrate with PayPal using PayPal's Express Checkout. It helps your customers with faster checkout and a better payment experience.

Create a new PayPal account or use your existing PayPal account and link to Cashfree Payment Gateway to accept payments from your customers. You can accept payments from international customers using this account.

To link your PayPal account for the first time,

  1. Go to Payment Gateway Dashboard in the left navigation bar click Settings > select Payment Methods.
  2. Scroll down and click Connect Account in the PayPal section.

  1. You will be redirected to PayPal's website. Enter your PayPal account credentials and submit your business details. You'll be redirected to Cashfree Payment Gateway Dashboard after you complete logging in on PayPal with your account. Once you're redirected, your PayPal account is linked with Cashfree Payments.

Link PayPal Account with Cashfree

You need to have an active account with PayPal to link it successfully with your Cashfree Payments account. If you don't have an existing account and you're signing up for a new account, please verify your email address using the link received over email and upload a photo ID proof on PayPal dashboard. After submitting, PayPal team will approve the account within one business day.
Once both these pointers are done, please repeat the above mentioned steps and connect using this PayPal account, it should get linked successfully.

  1. Set the active and default currency for your PayPal transactions.
  2. You can view all the PayPal transactions that you have made with your customers in the Paypal Transactions screen. You can also view these transactions in Payment Gateway Dashboard > Transactions screen.

After setting up your account, you can enable multiple currencies as per your business requirements. By default, USD will be your primary currency since most PayPal users can make a payment using it. INR is a restricted currency within PayPal, you must complete your KYC to enable it.

Accept Payments Through all Currencies
You have the option to accept payments through currencies which are not enabled in your PayPal account as well. This will help you accept payments from customers across various countries.

To enable accepting payments automatically in currencies which are not enabled for your account,

  1. Access by logging into your PayPal business account.
  2. Select the option Yes, accept and convert them to U.S. dollars in the Allow payments sent to me in a currency I do not hold.

Activate Paytm for your Account

  1. Go to Payment Gateway Dashboard in the left navigation bar click Settings > select Payment Methods.
  2. Scroll down and click Connect Account in the Paytm section.

  1. Enter your Paytm test account merchant ID and merchant key.

  1. Click Next, and perform the test transactions.
  2. After successful test transactions, submit your production API credentials. To validate the production credentials, you must initiate a test transaction.

  1. Successfully complete the text transaction to connect your Paytm account with Cashfree Payments, and start accepting payments from your customers using this payment mode.
